:
Individuals in the ! Nursing Support Position perform a variety of delegated tasks under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) in a complementary and assistive role through functioning in a combination of two or more of the following positions: Patient Care Assistant, Unit Clerk and/or Cardiac Monitor Tech. He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance to the individualâs training, competence and skill, hospital policies and procedures and the Texas Board of Nursing rules for delegated nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel (Rule 224.6). Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment.
Essential Job Functions
:
1. Under the supervision of the RN, performs delegated activities as directed and ordered in accordance with oneâs training, competence and skill and with Hospital policies, procedures and Methodist Excellence.
2. Signs all applicab! le job descriptions of positions performed and consistently fu! lfills the essential job functions of those positions.
3. Maintains training, competence and skill for all applicable nursing support positions performed.
4. Is consistently flexible to perform in the roles needed by the department/facility.
Qualifications
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics

Employees in this position will function in a minimum of
two
and no more than
three
of the following nursing support job functions. Individuals will sign and be evaluated on
all
applicable job descriptions. Pay adjustments are according to Job Master.
1. Unit Secretary
2. Cardiac Monitor Tech
3. Patient Care Assistant- Certified beginning 2/1/2012. The certification requirement is waived for current staff members hired before 2/1/12.

A. PCA & Unit Secretary:
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. C.N.A. certification

B. PCA & Cardiac Monitor Tech:

2. Employee comp! letes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by servi! ce line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable) for each job function performed.
3. To maintain position: Individuals will be evaluated in each job function through the annual evaluation and feedback for each role performed.
