Associate Degree Nursing Professor - PSYCH-Mental Health

  • Minimum of three (3) years direct or rel! ated work experience in Psych-Mental Health Nursing required, exclusive of teaching experience.
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas (or must be able to obtain a Texas Nursing License).
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years clinical experience in PSYCH-Mental Health Nursing preferred.
Previous teaching in an ADN program preferred.

Responsibilities

Two (2) positions available.
One Position is for 9-Month /35 hours per week
One Position is for 12-Month /35 hours per week

Teaching the Associate Degree Nursing course work.

Essential Job Functions:
1.Teaching
a. Keeps up with developments in the field of study.
b. Demonstrates high standards - academic and professional.
c. Evaluates student work constructively and provides timely feedback.
d. Teaches at times and locations that meet student ! needs.
e. Provides access to students through posted confe! rence hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
f. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
g. Develops and uses a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guideline.

2. Professional Development
a. Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
b. Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the students in learning.
c. Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises program curricula and teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self reflection.
d. Meets or exceeds professional standards, ! state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry, and higher education, as appropriate to the discipline(s).

3. Service
a. Actively participates in college meetings and/or committees, task forces, and councils.
b. Participates in college-related activities such as registration, community education, recruitment of students, student retention, and faculty selection.
c. Participates in college activities for students/student organizations to aid in retention.
d. Participates in business and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission and values of the college.
e. Participates in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards.
f. Participates in setting departmental goals, in developing college budgets that support the goals, and in planning for achieving those goals.
g. Promotes and maintains departmental affiliation agreements and other partnerships with other institutions.

Salary
Salary based on 2013-2014 Board approved salary schedule for instructional personnel.

Work Hours

Class and office hours
Thirty-five (35) hours per week
Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must be available for evening and weekend hours as needed.
Portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes.
