To provide patient care under the direction of the RN, using the nursing process, in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Las Palmas Medical C! enter.
POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following population(s) served: Esophagitis, Gastrointestinal disorders, Kidney and Urinary Tract infections, Pneumonia and Pleurisy, Septicemia, Nutritional and Metabolic disorders, Cellulitis Pulmonary Edema and Respiratory Failure, COPD, Diabetes, Bronchitis and Asthma, Renal Failure, Anemia, PVD.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments and supplies needed for surgical cases.
Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.
Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
Demonstrates knowledge and respect of the patients right to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.
Communicates and participates in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the Registered Nurse.
Demonstr! ates knowledge and application of basic patient care.
! Monitors and documents information regarding patient activities, as directed by the RN.
Performs clerical duties and inventory control.
Sets priorities and organizes the workload on a nursing unit.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
1. BCLS Certification
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
1. Completion of a formal training program or enrolled in a nursing program
2. Nursing Assistant Certification
3. Health care experience preferred
4. Reads and writes basic English with the basic skills necessary to understand and transfer physician's orders.
5. Ability to move in excess of 50 pounds, with assistance from other staff.
6. Effective communication skills; both orally and written.
! 7. Computer skills needed.
8. Ability to work with others in a team
9. Strong customer service skills relating to patients, physicians, and staff
