NURSE PRACTITIONER II - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Responsible for completion of activities associated with the institutional orientation, department specific orientation, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other systems training, competency skills testing, observation processes, functions and flows of patient with in the patient care area, shadowing clinical staff in patient care areas, etc., while in the credentialing process. Employees in this classification are limited to non-patient care activities. The credentialing process must be completed within 120 days of hire.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Must have completed an accredited post-graduate Nurse Practitioner program.
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Individuals who perform non-waived POCT must hav! e a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or a college degree.
- Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalence to United States education standards by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) or COLA authorized credentialing agency.
- A copy of the high school diploma, GED, college degree/transcript or foreign education equivalence report will be required at time of hire or placement in job.
- Must have three years of Nurse Practitioner clinical experience in a similar specialty area or five years of Nurse Practitioner clinical experience in another area.
- May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
- Must have current RN license or va! lid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or, valid Compact RN license.
- Must have current CPR certification or obtain during initial orientation at Parkland.
- Must have current recognition from the Texas Board of Nursing acknowledging Advanced Practice Nurse status.
- Must be nationally certified in area of specialty and maintain active certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- May be required to have Advanced Cardiopulmonary Lifesaving certificate and/or Neonatal Resuscitation certification.
- Pursuant to the Medical Staff Bylaws, must be sponsored by and remain under the auspices of a member of the active medical staff.
- Applicants must pass Medication Examination prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Medication Examination on file.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skil! ls in working with a diverse population of patients and families, nurse! s, physicians and community agencies.
- Must have knowledge and skill in educating patients and families.
- Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
