1. Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area/function or assigned procedures.

2. Six months experience in healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures.

3. Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.

4. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Performs assigned basic patient care duties, under the direction of an RN or LVN, in a competent manner within the scope of hospital-approved PCA I skills inventory according to the needs/age of the patien! t/population served; takes patients' TPR and blood pressure, m! onitors intake and output, and maintains related records. Assists with patient admissions, discharges and transfers.

2. Prepares patients for meals and feeds them; performs/assists with baths; performs assigned treatments, as directed; maintains patient rooms in orderly fashion, filling ice pitchers, changing linens, and keeping beds neat and clean; cleans rolling stock such as blood pressure machines, IV poles and carts; monitors and replaces designated contaminated boxes; and transports patients as needed.

3. Reports any changes in patient's condition to the patient's nurse or charge nurse.

4. Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time/supply management, and accuracy of practice.

5. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals! which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
