General Statement of Duties:
The Advanced Registered Nurse utilizes the nu! rsing process to independently deliver nursing care to patients to achieve quality outcomes. Communicates effectively with good interpersonal skills with the health care team. Role models confidence and professionalism within nursing as evidenced by active engagement in unit and organizational activities. Demonstrates strong team work and adaptability and is seen as a resource person to the health care team. Consistently utilizes critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in providing holistic patient care. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing care services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction. Demonstrates proficient technical skills and operational knowledge of equipment. Job responsibilities fall within the 5 pillars that encompass Methodist Excellence , the service excellence model: Finance, Growth, Service, People, Quality/Safety.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Completes thorough patient asse! ssments. Documents the patient's response to illness, the use !
of coping mechanisms, emotional needs and assessment / reassessment of pain. Analyzes
assessment data in determining patient problems/nursing diagnoses.
2. Incorporates family into plan of care and documents a plan of care that is individualized for
each patient. Identifies individual goals and readiness to learn. Collaborates with physicians
and caregivers on establishing realistic outcome goals.
3. Maintains current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstrating
practical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety and infection control. This
includes using: personal protective wear, good hand hygiene, and adhering to sharps safety
procedures.
4. Maintains an orderly, efficient and timely flow of patients.
5. Administers medications and treatments safely using 2 patient identifiers and the 7 rights of
medication administration. Recognizes and reports errors and unusual occurrences a! nd
analyzes contributing factors.
6. Prioritizes tasks and adjusts priorities when necessary. Serves as a resource to nursing
personnel in implementing nursing care based on patient's needs, staff competencies, licensure
and circumstantial/procedural complexities.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of a nursing program: diploma, associate or baccalaureate degree.
Experience: 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in critical care setting or Liver Transplant department.
Minimum License and Certificates Required: Valid and Current Texas License - Registered Nurse
