RN Charge (Med/Surg) (Nights)

Graduate of a Professional Nursing School.
One year experience as an RN Staff Nurse preferred.
The ability to read and write Englis! h. Effective oral and written communication skills. The ability to comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions in English. Other languages a plus. Demonstrated ability in basic nursing practice.
Candidates with previous Charge RN experience are highly preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification:
Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas.
Current CPR, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) strongly recommended.

Job Summary:
Has principle responsibility for the total care, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of each assigned patient. Plans, provides, and documents care and teaching rendered. Assures a plan of care is carried out in a safe environment through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel. Meets departmental nursing care standar! ds; through appropriate cost containment and utilization/quali! ty mechanisms. Manages all supplies and equipment as instructed by the manufacturers.
This position works rotating days 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.

Duties:
Performs admission and multi-system assessments for the patient.
Identifies, implements, reviews and documents individual Plans of Care. Formulates appropriate nursing diagnosis.
Identifies teaching/learning/discharge needs. Plans goals.
Initiates interdisciplinary communications and incorporates recom-mendations. Implements and develops discharge planning. Documents appropriate discharge instructions and discusses instructions to patient and significant others in layman terms. Consults with patient, family and others to formulate care plans that reflect concern for holistic patient needs.
Assesses and evaluates patient-response/outcome and makes appropriate modifications/updates on the care plan.
Performs basic nursing care of patients (i.e. documenting input/output of fluid! s, taking vital signs, transcribing physician orders and assisting the patient with activities of daily living.
