In collaboration with the Director of Trauma Services, the Injury Prevention/Trauma Coordinator will assist with the coordination of! care of trauma patients throughout the hospital and support the stated mission, vision and values of Medical Center of Plano and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. The clinician will promote, advocate and support the nursing staffâs primary commitment to protect the health, safety and rights of the individual, family or community.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that care is provided in an evidenced-based environment.
Practice autonomously, consistent with practice standards and research based policy/procedures.
Provide care/treatment/services within the theoretical framework of modeling and role modeling.
Exercise independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary patient care.
Develop and implement a plan for assuring delivery of individual goal-directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process with patient safety as the primary goal to the trauma patient population.
Work closely with Trauma Services Direc! tor, Trauma Medical Director, hospital staff members, and phys! icians to maintain trauma designation status.
Responsible for coordination of Injury Prevention Program utilizing community resources and data from Trauma Performance Improvement Program.
Collaborates with other hospital care givers to ensure implementation of programs and competencies based on identification of staff learning needs, in order to assure that the standard of care for the trauma patient is constantly maintained.
Actively participates in the Trauma Performance Improvement Program including data analysis, medical record extrapolation, data entry for the trauma registry, development of standards of care/policies and procedures, and evaluation of trauma care throughout the hospital.
Serve as a consultant or resource person for members of health care team to advance and individualize patient care for the trauma patient.
Actively participates in educational activities to include trauma education programs such as TNCC, ENPC, and Trauma Grand Round! s.
Participate in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, and/or national level.
Assist with emergency preparedness activities for hospital in collaboration with local agencies.
Demonstrate commitment to customer focused care, star service and service recovery.
Promote involvement of self and staff in health promotion/educational community activities; community involvement, life time learning and nursing research.
Participate in development and evaluation of professional practice by participating on unit and/or hospital committees, special projects and attendance at staff meetings and town halls.
Attendance and being on time, ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job function.
Qualifications Graduate of school of Nursing, ADN is required - BSN preferred
Must be licensed RN in the State of Texas
BLS, ACLS required;
TNCC and ENPC preferred,
National specialty certification is preferred
Must h! ave a minimum of 2 years recent emergency/critical nursing experience Must have the ability to listen, interact and communicate verbally and written
Previously demonstrated management potential.
