:

Evaluates patients, sets goals, plans treatment programs ! and treat patients according to physician’s orders; maintains required records and notes on patient care; assumes responsibility for patient charges; provides technical advise to support personnel and supervision of same. Takes initiative for professional development and education and maintains annual requirements. Completes assignments independently, and fosters an environment of teamwork, quality and safety.

Essential Job Functions

:

1. Evaluates patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes, and synthesizes the data to establish a plan of care with therapeutic interventions and goals appropriate to patient’s age and development.

2. Determines the efficacy of therapeutic interventions, technologies and outcomes and the utilization of PTA’s, students and support personnel.

3. Documents evaluations, treatm! ents, plan of care, charges, and discharge summaries utilizing! professional jargon that supports skilled therapeutic necessity and the charges incurred in a concise and timely manner.

4. Supervises the daily activities of the PTA, and support personnel, in the provision of patient care to facilitate desired changes in patient function toward stated goals.

5. Interacts and confers with a variety of professionals including physicians, nurses, case management, OT’s and SLP’s to implement and assess the intervention program.

6. Provides Director with constructive suggestions to problem solve, assist with maintaining productivity standards and setting a positive atmosphere for professional development.

4. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrate ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understand the personal obligations to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.

5. Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

:

Bachelors of Science degree from a university in Physica! l Therapy.

Prefer membership in the APTA. Prefer one or more y! ears of experience in Physical Therapy Setting: Acute, Inpatient Rehab, Pediatrics, Outpatient as appropriate.

Minimum License and Certificates Required

:

Licensed Physical Therapist by the state of Texas

WORKING CONDITIONS

(x) INSIDE: Spends approximately 38 hours or more per week inside.

(x OUTSIDE: Spend approximately 2 hours per week outside (driving/running work related errands).

( ) BOTH: The activities occur inside and outside in approximately equal amounts.

( ) SEDENTARY WORK: Lifting 10 lbs. maximum and occasional lifting and/or carrying articles.

! (x) MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

( ) HEAVY WORK: Lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

( ) VERY HEAVY WORK: Lifting objects in excess of 100 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing more than 50 lbs.

(x) Ability to lift, push and pull with assistance (mechanical or co-worker) the weight of an average patient specific to the department.
