Kingwood Pines Hospital a 116 bed psychiatric
facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community. We
are located about 30 miles northeast of the Houston! Medical Center.
The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. We serve children,
adolescents, adults for psychiatric and behavioral health needs. The
hospital also has services in intensive outpatient and partial

exciting direction. Kingwood Pines Hospital has an excellent
opportunity for a Registered Nurse. The candidate selected will be

responsible for the following:
Purpose
To provide nursing
care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric
and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. To assess
mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes,
plan and evaluate nursing care. To administer and/or monitor the
effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a
physician. To ensure safety and provide! milieu management and crisis
intervention strategies. Pat! ients served include adults (18+),
geriatric (66+), adolescents (13-17) and children (3-12).
Key
Responsibilities
1. To initiate and document any special
treatment procedures clearly and concisely.
2. To assess,
direct and intervene in crisis situations.
3. To provide
leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric
technicians and counselors.
4. To provide assessment of
patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
5. To
contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.

6. To administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed
by a Physician.
7. To provide and direct milieu management.
8. To document nursing care, treatment and patient’s response
to treatment.
9. To provide health education to patients and
families.
10. Maintains the standards of service excellence at
all times.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
! Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment,
diagnosis, treatment, planning, intervention and evaluation of
psychiatric patients. Ability to accurately administer medication and
treatments and monitor for effectiveness and side effects. Knowledge
of milieu management. Ability to delegate responsibility to other
staff and monitor their performance. Ability to safely implement
special treatment procedures. Skill in developing therapeutic
relationship with adults, adolescents, children and their families.
Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record
documentation. Skill in teaching patients and families about the
patient’s health needs.

EDUCATION:
Graduate
of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN and ANA Certification
preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current
Texas Driver’s License
  • Current Texas State
Registered Nurse Licens! e
  • Current CPR
•
Current CPI

E! XPERIENCE:
One year inpatient
psychiatric experience and one year medical/surgical experience
preferred.

PROVIDES CARE OR SERVICES FOR THE FOLLOWING
AGE GROUPS

Staff in this position is responsible for
consideration of developmental issues of patients in each of the

following age groups identified:
_X_ Children (3 to 12
years) X__ Adult (18 to 65 years)
__X__ Adolescent (13 to 17
years) __X__ Geriatric (66+ years)

EXPOSURE CATEGORIES:
BLOOD BORNE DISEASE EXPOSURE CATEGORY: 1

OTHER POTENTIAL HAZARD(S):
Participates in therapeutic
crisis intervention, which involves some personal risk when dealing
with physically aggressive patients.

Other Hazards:
This position may, from time to time, require that patients
outside the normal age group(s) as stated above be cared for. In this
event, the employee should consult with his/he! r direct supervisor to
be directed to available resources to provide the appropriate care.

Physical Requirements:
Full range of body motion
including handling and lifting patients. Manual and finger dexterity.
Hand-eye coordination. Ability to run. Ability to assist in
restraining patients weighing up to 250 pounds. Ability to lift and
carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform
cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Ability to drive a vehicle. Ability to
walk 6+ hours per day, frequently standing, bending, stooping and
reaching to check or move equipment and assist patients. Hearing and
vision sufficient to perform essential functions. Emotional stability
necessary to perform essential functions. Ability to speak clearly.
Ability to write legibly.
