Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. In conducting these activities the C! harge Nurse will exercise independent judgment and discretion in the interest of Central Texas Medical Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
The registered nurse is responsible for assessing, evaluating, implementing and planning patient centered care for all assigned patients on the unit during his/her shift, according to the standards of care of Central Texas Medical Center. Is able to perform basic and advanced nursing functions in all care areas.
Actively participates in continuous quality improvement.
Directs the work of RNs, LVNs, CNAs, unit clerk and students on Womenâs Services. Manages all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment and promotes and participates in teamwork with physicians and personnel of this and other departments.
Follows all departmental safety policies and procedures regarding patie! nt care and oneâs personal protection and patient safety. De! velops self professionally and participates in hospital and departmental activities.
Primary duties and critical tasks will include but are not limited to:
Makes shift assignments for nurses and CNAâs. Gives CNAâs report.
Assesses post op patients on return from surgery.
Insures that admission data is completed.
Round with physicians when possible and appropriate.
Serve as a resource person for staff and students.
Have knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
Is pro-active in patient satisfaction, conflict and problem resolution.
Be active in at least one multidisciplinary team.
Help monitor compliance of hospital policies and JCAHO compliance.
Perform direct patient care, when needed.
Assists the manager and director to identify staff learning needs and patient care performance improvements.
Make patient care and daily task assignments.
As! sists manager and director in identifying any equipment and supply needs.
Insures that the Crash Cart checks as well as waived testing logs are performed as per policy.
Insures that Pyxis discrepancy resolution is performed.
Supports management in any changes that take place in the workflow.
Understands the Computerized Physician Order Entry process and proficiently uses the electronic medical record for retrieval of patient information.
Understands computer downtime procedures.
Monitors Electronic Medical Record for new physician orders and diagnostic results.
Completes other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience

Be a graduate from an accredited school and have a minimum of one year related experience and/or training in Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby Unit, Nursery/NICU. Required to be RNC in specialty field or obtain within 1 year of hire. !
Licensure, Certification & Registration

! Must hold a current certificate in BCLS.
Must hold a current certificate in NRP or obtain within 3 months of hire.
Must hold a current certificate in STABLE or obtain within 3 months of hire.
Current ACLS required or obtain within 6 months of hire.
Must hold a current AWHONN approved Fetal Monitoring certificate.
Must hold a current license or be eligible for license as an RN in the state
