Description: Leander Independent School District is at present recruited Licensed Vocational Nurse- LVN right now, this occupation will be placed in Texas. The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal ba! ckground check. Primary Purpose:
Provide smooth and efficient operation of school health services under the direction of an RN.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
•

Evaluate ill and injured children and staff as needed.

•

Communicate with parents concerning the illness/injury of their children.

•

Administer First Aid, CPR and AED as necessary.

•

Administer medication as prescribed, while assuring compliance with State law and district policy.

•

Establish and maintain student immunization records in compliance with state immunization requirements.

•

Evaluate students for communicable diseases/conditions and refer as needed.

•

Perform special medical procedures for students with special needs as delegated by RN.

•

Perform State manda! ted vision, hearing, spinal and Acanthosis Nigricans screening! . Recheck and refer students as needed, locate resources as needed. Enter data for State report on vision, hearing and Scoliosis.

•

Teach individuals or groups about health care issues as requested.

•

Report non-compliance issues to the Assistant Director, Risk Management.

•

Perform other duties as assigned.

General Qualification Guidelines

Education/Certification/Experience:
•

High school diploma or GED; Texas LVN license required; Vision/Hearing/Spinal screening and Acanthosis Nigricans certification; two years nursing experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•

Excellent organizational skills.

•

Ability to communicate effectively, to handle stressful situations in calm and efficient manner, to make decisions quickly and independently, to understand LVN scope of practice, and to understand written and verbal instructions.
