The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) School of Nursing is seeking full-time faculty members at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates should have ! an earned Masters Degree and have recognition or are eligible ! for recognition as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Texas. Applicants should have significant clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Department Marketing Statement
As part of a $200-million federal grant, four schools of nursing in the Houston area are seeking new faculty for a Graduate Nurse Education (GNE) Demonstration project to educate additional advanced practice registered nurses. This project is funded by the Affordable Care Act.
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) School of Nursing, one of the four schools, is located on historic Galveston Island and invites applicants for clinical faculty positions in its Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
The successful candidate will engage in clinical teaching experiences. The School of Nursing Graduate Program enrolls over 300 students in its Masters and Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs. Our students obtain their practice experience in over 600 ! specialty appropriate clinical sites.
Salary Range
Commensurate with rank and experience.
Specific Job Related Duties
At the Clinical Assistant and Clinical Associate Professor level the successful applicant will demonstrate all the qualities of a clinical faculty at the appointment rank plus follow the additional requirements:
Demonstrate skills as a clinician in a Family or Adult/Geriatric nationally certified nurse practitioner with an unencumbered nursing license in the State of Texas.
Exhibit leadership in clinical settings for increased collaboration with nursing colleagues and other disciplines.
Effectively use innovative, state of the art teach methodologies and learning activities that promote excellence in the classroom and clinical settings.
Serve as an Academic Advisor to students.
Disseminate scholarly work in professional publications/presentation at local or state meetings.
Assume leadership role in academic programs and community responsib! ilities.
Demonstrate leadership through increased participation in University activities and committees.
Participate in local, state, national, and international professional organizations, demonstrating participation in University activities and committees.
