Min Qualifications

RN with Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. 4 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and at least 1 year experience in education/staff development.

Job Description:
Responsible for the evaluation, development and coordination of educational activities for the assigned clinical area. Develop, monitor staff and evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities to ensure quality care for patients.

Salary Range

From $57,303.00 To $60,320.00 Annually

Pay Grade 25, Salary Admin Plan - NSG

Specific Job Related Duties

Demonstrates skill as a clinical practitioner

Serves as a role model for students in the laboratory setting

Collaborates with nursing colleagues and other disciplines in the educational setting to provide appropriate learning experiences for students

Fosters an environment that is conducive to learning

Effectively uses teaching methodologies in teaching/learning settings

Documents and evaluates student performance using approved course records and tools

Facilitate integration and application of didactic content and concepts to selected laboratory experiences

Facilitate student integration of nursing theory and the organizing framework of the School of Nursing into clinical practice

Facilitate the application of students current skills and knowledge to new and unfamiliar experiences

Facilitate students learning of clinical decision-making and critical thinking in simulation activities

Guide students to demonstrate professional behavior at all times. Professional behavior includes accountability for own learning and respect for all individuals

Immediately notify the Director of the Nursing Simulation Center of students who are not meeting performance expectations. In collaboration with Director of the Nursing Simulation Center and course coordinator, create a remediation plan for students in danger of failing laboratory and/or simulation activities

Meet all UTMB compliance-training requirements within posted deadlines

Coordinates equipment, supplies and resources for setup and breakdown of labs

Assists with simulations setup, breakdown and running of simulations and necessary equipment

Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments

Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required, such as walking, standing, bending, and lifting materials, equipment, and transferring simulation mannequins from bed to chair and back to bed

Lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs

A positive commitment to the nursing profession and the education of nursing students

Preferred Skill/Competency

Microsoft Office Professional 2007 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) Experience with clinical equipment. At least 2 years in education development. School of Nursing simulation lab experience.
