Psychiatrist - (Psychiatry) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 05/20/2013Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
(2) Board Certified or Board Eligible Psy! chiatrists to cover for 6 months with the option to extend for 6 additional months. Both inpatient & outpatient. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Call as required rotating with other Psychiatrists. Perform Psychiatric evaluations, individual therapy, psychopharmacology, intake evaluations and consultations. Case load will compres of an outpatient panel of approx 14-20 per day or approximately a panel of 10 inpatients per day. Provide care for patients with General Psychiatric conditions, substance abuse, and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Depression. Provider shall serve as a team member for an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, comprised of a variety of clinicians including psychologists, social workers, and registered nurses, which provide coordination of care for the caseload. Must have a DEA and BCLS.

After co! mpleting medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a o! ne year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
