May supervise subordinate staff, student employees and/or volunteers.

Major/Essential Functio! ns

• Undergoes orientation and training in the study protocol, human investigation, the consent process, data abstraction, and electronic data collection.
• Oversees orientation and training in the study protocol, human subject protection, and practicum training of staff.
• Assists Principal Investigators, other Research Associates, administrative personnel, and project officers in the day-to-day operations of the research studies.
• Works with multi-disciplinary hospital teams that include physicians, counselors, promotoras, nurses and paramedics. Facilitate continuation of the study protocols; ensure that the study protocol is being followed.
• Provides information as needed to family members and those caring for the patient.
• Gathers source documents for data collection.
• Informs PI of any protocol violations, adverse events, or other issues.
• Performs other research activities as needed including, but n! ot limited to, follow-up phone calls, data entry, chart review! , patient assessment, interview and literature review.
• Performs follow up activities on tracking, data entry, phone calls, emails, US Post Office mailing, home visits and any other activities related to follow up on enrolled patients as outlined in the study protocol.

Maturity, interest and desire to work with patients and their families who are in the midst of a stressful medical event; self-disciplined, motivated and capable of self-direction within a defined scope of work; conscientious and thorough; works effectively as part of a team; must have access to reliable transportation; experience in research and/or medical environment necessary; experience in clinical trials desired; understanding of medical records and medical terminology; proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word, and Excel; attention to detail; counseling or advising experience (informal or formal); conscientious and thoro! ugh; works effectively as part of a team; must have access to reliable transportation; experience in research and/or medical environment necessary; experience in clinical trials desired; understanding of medical records and medical terminology; Ability to communicate with patient regarding survey information collection.

Occasional Duties

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one (1) year related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical knowledge helpful. Experience in a medically-related field may be considered in lieu of degree. Desired fluency in Spanish and English but not required.
