Description: College of Healthcare Professions is hiring Nursing Faculty Instructor for Associate Degree of Nursing Program (RN), Full Time right now, this occupation will be placed in Texas. The ADN (RN) Instructor works under the direction of the Program Dir ector. Teaches theory and practical applications using instructional methods and teaching skills in the classroom, clinical practicum, simulation and skills laboratory; tracking student attendance and progress; setting educational objectives for the students; continuing curriculum development to strengthen the curricula/courses taught; on-going mentoring students; retention; attentive to the continued needs of our students; obligated to continued self-improvement; and maintaining a satisfactory working relationship with our students, faculty, and staff. The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Instructor will participate in training, preparation, and continuing education in instructional methods and teaching skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches assigned number of classes using the prescribed courses of study with established texts and/or prescribed instructional materials.

Uses additional instructional resources such as guest speak ers, field trips, films, interactive media and handouts to enhance the learning process.

Holds conferences with students on a scheduled and as needed basis.

Maintains classroom in good physical order.

Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class on time.

Supervises and instructs clinical skills in a laboratory and/or clinical setting for respective course(s) taught.

Acute Care Clinical Instruction:
Maintains professional relationship with nursing staff at clinical facilities.

Arranges orientation, security clearance and parking for student nurses and instructor.

Prepares copies for student nurses of clinical objectives, nursing care plans, and clinical evaluations.

Coordinates with charge nurse on assigned unit at facility by providing clinical schedule of dates of practicum, names of student’s assigned, current immunization and CPR documentation. < br>
Reports to facility before arrival of student nurses for preparation of patient assignments.

Conference with each student nurse to determine if student is prepared to care for assigned /patient.

Direct and evaluate all students when performing initial nursing procedures to determine competence before allowing the student to perform the procedure independently.

Initial the student’s clinical skills checklist when procedures are witnessed.

Evaluates written nursing care plans weekly, updates notes for final clinical evaluation, and meets with students to track progress.

Reports/records daily attendance.

Is available by pager or cell phone for student/school needs

Plans pre- or post-clinical conference each clinical day to reinforce learning.

Prepares and presents written mid-rotation (formative) and final (summative) clinical evaluation to each student during individual conference. Places final c linical evaluation in student file at school by the completion of the course.

Skills Laboratory Instruction:
Maintain currency of skills laboratory objectives as changes occur in clinical practice and through nursing research.

Review and order proper medical supplies for laboratory experience

Arrive before commencement of lab to set-up work stations with medical supplies.

Obtain and set-up audiovisual equipment.

Provide hands-on instruction for nursing students via demonstration.

Assess learning by evaluating competency with return demonstrations.

Sign and date each student nurse’s skill checklist with satisfactory/unsatisfactory. If unsatisfactory, counsel and re-schedule student for future testing until skill is successfully completed.

Manages Simulation Scenarios and evaluates student responses.

Outside of Class Time

Prepares lesson plans, handouts, and other curriculum- related materials.

Develops clinical and class schedules for students in conjunction with teaching team and level.

Designs and implements test banks, to include weekly tests and final examinations.

Participates through Faculty Organization, in curriculum development, implementation and evaluation for courses taught.

Participates through Faculty Organization, in development, implementation and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation and dismissal of students.

Counsels students regarding academic, attendance, and/or conduct problems as needed.

Refers students to appropriate student services resources as needed.

Writes progress reports.

Promptly records student conferences on college forms.

Posts and maintains office hours weekly, as required, for individual student needs outside of instructional time.

Corrects students’ assignments and tests and returns t hem promptly.

Requisitions supplies and forms, from proper source, and stores them in proper location.

Attends formal and informal staff and faculty meetings for college and nursing program.

Informs program director of unsatisfactory academic progress, discipline or attitude problems, and occurrences that warrant discussion.

Calls absent students for follow-up on assignments and updates

Works as a part of the academic team to improve student attendance, retention, and graduation rate

Actively participates to promote student retention.

Provides verbal and/or written feedback to students on classroom assignments, clinical and laboratory performance in a timely manner.

Maintains a system of records which relates to student achievement, progress and attendance.

Uses course and instructor evaluation to facilitate students' learning.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Texas Board of Nursing Professional Nursing (RN) Program Faculty Qualifications:

  • Current Texas RN license or privilege to practice;
  • Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in area of teaching;
  • MUST Hold a Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree , preferably in nursing; and
  • If master’s degree is in another discipline, shall hold a BSN and, either six (6) credits of graduate nursing courses for a diploma or ADN faculty position, or twelve (12) credits of graduate nursing courses for BSN faculty position
REQUIRED

Supervise and evaluate instructional staff.

Direct advisory committee activities for program.

Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Ensures the consist ent compliance with the regulations for the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners.

Prepares and submits the required documents to the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners.

Monitor instructor lesson plans and their posting.

Screen instructional applicants.

Review curriculum and textbooks with instructors, program managers, advisory board, and Campus President.

Review student evaluations of instructors and programs, externship evaluations, employer surveys, and graduate surveys with the DOE/EC, and Campus President.

Interview prospective students during enrollment process as needed.

Conduct new student orientation as needed.

Review completion and placement rates with Director of Career Services and Campus President.

Schedules and conducts in-service training.

Develops annual start date calendar.

Assist registrar in maintaining employee and student records.

Monitor TWC, federal an d accrediting standards compliance.

Adheres to academic policies/procedures for compliance.

Assist with new program development.

Assist with student advising.

Assist Director of Education/Education Coordination with administrative functions.

Other duties as assigned.
